Anxious Patients

At Access Dental, we know that some people may feel a lot of stress or anxiety at the prospect of a dental examination or treatment. That's why we offer dental sedation options to help our anxious patients feel at ease.

Anxious Patients

If you're afraid of the dentist, you're not alone. Even some patients who regularly visit the dentist sometimes feel anxious about their appointment. Fear is one of the most common reasons people avoid the dentist.

The first step is to discuss your recommended procedure in detail so you understand what is involved as well as options for pain control.

Make sure to ask questions! The more you ask, the better we can help you. Some common questions are: What size is the needle? What if I feel discomfort during the procedure? What can you do to make me feel more comfortable during the procedure?

By voicing your concerns, we can explain helpful details, help relieve your worries, and come up with the best plan for you.

Sedation Options

Oral Sedation

Oral medication may be administered in the form of liquid or pills. Oral sedatives can be taken the night before to help you sleep, and taken one hour before your appointment to significantly reduce anxiety.

Laughing Gas (Nitrous Oxide)

Nitrous Oxide, also known as laughing gas, is an inhaled gas that is also available to anxious patients. Since each person is different, the gas levels can easily be adjusted to customize your appointment.

  • Flossing can help remove food particles and other substances that can be missed with brushing alone. I recommend my patients floss at least once a day, along with regular brushing at least twice a day.
